Description

Sandpiper is a low density three story complex. Its unique V shape building and shared common area walkway in front of each condo lends to a friendly get to know your neighbor atmosphere. The tropical courtyard, seasonally-heated swimming pool (mid-March through October, as needed) and grilling areas give Sandpiper an ambiance all its own. It is a highly requested property and has the most repeat guests. Family reunions, large groups of people traveling together and individual families choose this property often. Sandpiper is conveniently located to area restaurants, shopping areas and entertainment.

A sofa bed is located in the living room.

For about 20 years we have been staying at the Sandpiper with four other families. The common balcony is great for getting together. The rooms are always clean and well furnished. Good access to the beach. Great location for access to restaurants and other activities. Our only complaint is other guests playing music too loud at the pool.

We had a wonderful time at the Sandpiper again this year! Plenty of room and our condo was clean and comfortable. We didn't have all the kitchen utensils needed (pitchers, scissors, Keurig) but were able to make do. We will definitely be returning next year!

First Sandpiper Gulf Shores Visit

The Sandpiper resort is a trip back to the beach vacations I took with my parents in the 70s. I mean this in the best way possible. 15B was a comfortable unit. It offers no fancy bells and whistles but still has everything one needs for a relaxing stay.
The 3 story complex's smaller number of units (as opposed to the monstrous high rises lining the beach) translates to an uncrowded private beach, available seating at the pool and open parking which all made for an enjoyable visit.
The only negative from our week here (and my reason for 2 stars for property management) was the lack of an onsite security guard to enforce the posted quiet hours of 10p-8a, as our stay coincided with a large group who consistently sang and played very loud music most nights until 11p or later. I even went outside one night to look for a security guard to complain to about the noise and none could be found.

There is security every night, and they rove between properties; if you did not see him or her, he may have been next door. We had the best time. The condo was beautiful. The pictures don’t do it justice. We loved everything about it. It was very clean and just steps away from the beach. It really is the most adorable set up with the decks. We were there with several other families and everyone really liked their units. The beach was gorgeous the week we were there. It was my favorite beach vacation, yet. Just a great experience in every way.

love this resort. Had some issues this time.
Had a hard time getting a ceiling fan switched out. we turned in our concern earl in the week, we as not fixed until the day before we left.. it was very uncomfortable without the fan

This was my third time vacationing at Sandpiper, and while I enjoyed my stay, I did have some issues. The unit was very nice and I would highly recommend it, the location, beach, etc. is fantastic. On the less than positive side there were people smoking EVERYWHERE, very rowdy unsupervised children at the pool multiple times, and it was a little frustrating because of that. The previous times I stayed here security seemed to have a better presence and I did not have any of these issues.

This was our 4th stay in 15B @ Sandpiper. We stay at Sandpiper every time we visit Gulf Shores. The complex is great and Bender staff is excellent. This unit could use a refresh on furniture. The living room furniture is starting to show it's age and the master King bed is as well. Other than that, great stay and very fun vacation!

We love 15B and stay there every year. Sandpiper overall has a family friendly atmosphere. It's not big square building with several condos packed together. There is no other complex in Gulf Shores like it. The wooden decks make it feel as though I am walking out on my back deck at home. We highly recommend the property.

We have stayed at Sandpiper several times, but this was our favorite unit yet. We had a perfect week relaxing together as a family and thankfully the weather was great too. We will be back, and we hope to stay in 15B. It is beautiful!

Great weather, lovely condo, and great Bender staff! Although we had some laundry issues, Jenny and the Bender staff worked with the owner and a new washer and dryer were installed during our visit. 15B is a beautiful condo! We have been coming to the Sandpiper for over 18 years and meet the nicest folks. This year we invited our neighbors to join us for Thanksgiving dinner with our family.

We have stayed at Sandpiper several times before and really enjoy the smaller, low key feel this complex has versus the typical "Hi-rise" condo. Unit 15B has been fully updated and was one of the nicer units I have stayed in at Sandpiper. Will definitely request 15B on my next stay.

Very unusual condo that is filled with friendly guests. The way it is built, you walk past anyone sitting outside on deck drinking coffee to watch sunrise or adult beverages to watch sunsets. Wonderful people

As a family, we had rented at the Sandpiper for several years as our children grew up. The family atmosphere is what always drew us back to the Sandpiper. This was our first experience at this time of year, and no regrets in returning for Thnaksgivng! Our children are grown now, but still enjoy the quiet, family environment. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The condo was updated nicely and we were very comfortable. The combination locks are so convenient, and makes check in and check out easy. There will be no hesitation in contacting Bender for renting at the Sandpiper again. Glad to be back there again!

This was the second time staying at the Sandpiper, but the first time in 15B. The complex was very clean and well maintained. The unit had been recently renovated with new stainless steel appliances, paint, tile flooring, and an ample supply of pots, pans, dishes, flatware, etc. The unit was one of the closest to the beach and just above the pool. I definitely recommend this unit as well as the Sandpiper, which was conveniently located to shopping and restaurants.

Other than two to three days of rain off and on, it was a relaxing week, and the breezes from the Gulf were great. The unit was very nice and roomy. The Bender staff were cordial and helpful. This was our first visit to Gulf Shores. We plan on coming back!

The condo is exceptionally nice and includes all the comforts of home. The location is excellent, as we were close to great restaurants and attractions. Unfortunately, people who checked in in the middle of the night decided to party from 3-5 am and continued to be narcissistically loud wherever they were...on their deck area and at the pool. People who checked in above our unit (15b) stayed up all night and stomped around as though they were pacing and dragging things from room to room. It was bizarre!

We had a wonderful time at the Sandpiper. Our family rented 5 condos for a reunion. Overall, it was a wonderful week! The beach was beautiful, the pool and common areas were well maintained, and it was really fun. I would like to point out that our unit, 15B, seemed to be less updated than most of the others that our family rented. The carpet is dated, the water heater only had enough water for two showers at any given time, and there was less seating in the common area of the condo than other condos had. It would be a great condo if it were spruced up like some of the rest. We loved the Sandpiper, though, and we will definitely return some day!

We have reserved our beach vacation condo through Bender Realty for years. This year I discovered that cancellation is now handled through an insurance company with a hefty extra charge and vague guarantees. I will be looking for a vacation stay with a different policy next time.

Cancellations less than 30 days prior to arrival are non-refundable, which is a common industry wide policy. However, to protect your deposits, vacation rental protection insurance is available through a 3rd party provider. The travel insurance is also optional. We certainly appreciate and value your patronage and when you check around with other vacation rental companies and you realize that this a common policy, we hope that we will have the opportunity to provide you with a great experience at the beach once again.

If you are wanting a place right on the beach, then this is the place. I personally thought the cleaning fee was a bit high for no more than what has to be done, but not being from that area, I really have no idea what the cleaning rates are. Overall, we had a great time and the condo was clean and right on the beach, so I would recommend this rental. The ladies that I spoke with at Bender Realty were very polite and professional and told us to report any problems that we had. (We had none).

We had come down the past 9 years on spring break with our grown children and grandchildren. This year we tried the month of Feb.alone; a very different experience but we absolutely loved it even though it was cooler. We had morning sun but would have liked the afternoon sunny side. What a fabulous way to spend the winter and we hope to add on months as the years go by. Sandpiper would always be our choice with the way the complex is designed and Bender Realty giving such a personal touch.

We had a great time at The Sandpiper. Our unit needed a few updates, but overall, the experience and the location was fantastic. The pool was wonderful and refreshing and the beach at our front door was great. I would like to give a personal "thank you" to the owners of the unit next to us...they were very gracious and helpful to us when we needed directions to an urgent care facility.

We only had a three night stay, but it was an enjoyable one. The only part I thought could have been better was the price. The price seemed high with the conditions of the beach and the oil. Swimming and playing in the ocean was completely out, and we ruined our beach shoes the first day out because of the oil.
Overall, the trip was good, the condo was very satisfactory.

We loved our vacation at The Sandpiper. Our family meets there every year and rent multiple condos. It is family friendly with the connecting decks. The condition of the Sandpiper as a whole is very good. I would have given more stars on property's general condition, but 15B needs some updates. Electronics in the main room are old and outdated. A 19-20" old TV just doesn't make sense with flat screens so cheap now. Needs carpet replaced or tile put down as other condos have. Bedding was good, but could use new comforters. Could use a stand or shelves in the bathrooms. Unit was clean and Management is very nice and willing to help with any concern. You can feel the southern hospitality within the Bender office. They are very nice people and want your vacation to be great. The oil spill contamination of Gulf Shores was way over blown by the media. Not to say there was no oil, just not near as bad as being reported. We had a few days of very small oil droplets. We've had a lot more trouble with jelly fish in the past. Beach was great with workers out there every day looking for debris. Beach was cleaner than normal! The silver lining in the cloud was... with so many people staying away, it was a lot less crowded :) I would recommend coming down to Gulf shores and specifically making your stay at The Sandpiper.

We loved our time at the Sandpiper. Great location, beach, pool, safe, incredible view, and you can hear the ocean all the time. Wish we would have brought our bikes. Played beach volleyball, basketball, tennis, swam and walked the beach every day. This is a great, economical stay for a family.

We stayed in 15B. It was very clean and furnishings were nice. The dishwasher was very, very loud. We did dishes by hand. We love the Sandpiper and have been coming for 15 years. We will continue to come each fall.

Our family have come year after year to Sandpiper. We have stayed in various condos. 15B was ok but very poorly stocked with kitchen supplies. There was only 4 forks and just a couple sharp (enough to cut butter) knives. Also, there needed to be some cookie sheets and other baking pans, 9x13, jelly roll size pan, etc. Also, both toilets ran continuously and were slow to flush. And the stackable w/d needs to be replaced, esp. the washer. The lid stuck back constantly. Finally, this is for the general facility. There needs to be more deck chairs outside each condo, at least 4 per condo. Some had 1 and some had 4-5! We will be back next year but are already booked for 7B hoping that condo will be more updated.

The pool area could have been cleaner,found chair in pool,crab,cans; did not clean daily as in past, never saw anyone clean it. Nice and warm though. Property had more litter around than at past stays. Room could have been cleaner too. Did not see security staff at any time.

I read that a few Sandpiper units had older bedding, furniture damaged, outdated kitchens, etc., so I was a little leery of renting at Sandpiper. I was pleasantly surprised with 15B. The furniture and bedding was newer (not lumpy), the carpets were newer and clean, the kitchen was newer and clean. The one single complaint was that not a single remote control worked on any TV. I don't know if batteries needed to be changed or the proper remotes were not there, but we didn't care too much. We were on vacation, not there to watch TV!

we have stayed here several times and are always happy. condo was neat and clean. comfy kingsize bed. kitchen needs new blender. tried several restraunts; desoto's kitchen, bahama bobs and big o's all had great seafood. the beach was clean and so was the water.

We had stayed at the Sandpiper a few times when our kids were growing up, and now took our 25 year old son with us to play golf with my husband. We enjoyed our stay at Sandpiper this time just as much as before. The units had really been kept up well. We definitely will be back again!
